Terms of use

Last updated 3 November 2026.

These terms apply when you use thegridscout.com, with or without an account. Please read them: by using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Who we are

These terms are between you and Grant Dinkele, trading as The Grid Scout ("we", "us"). Contact us at hello@thegridscout.com.

Unofficial

The Grid Scout is an independent news and opinion site. It is not associated with Formula 1, the FIA, any team or any driver. F1, Formula 1 and related marks belong to Formula One Licensing B.V.; team names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.

What's on the site

  • News and opinion. We work hard to get the facts right and we name our sources. Opinions are ours, and each stands on facts from its sources. If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
  • Race data comes from OpenF1 and Jolpica. It can be late, incomplete or wrong, and it is not official timing.
  • Predictions and calculations, such as race calls and the title-fight calculator, are for interest only. They are not betting advice, and nothing on the site is.
  • Ask the Scout is answered by an AI model. It works only from the site's articles and race data and names its sources, but it can still make mistakes. Check anything that matters.

Using our content

The stories, videos, graphics and the site's design belong to us or are used with permission. You're welcome to share links and to quote a few lines with credit and a link back. Please don't copy whole articles, videos or graphics, or use them commercially, without asking us first.

Your account

  • Accounts are free, and for people aged 16 or over.
  • You sign in with a code sent to your email, or with Google. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
  • Give us a real email address, and keep your display name decent: no impersonation, abuse or anything offensive.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example one used to attack the site or harass anyone. Unless the law or safety stops us, we'll tell you why.

Things not to do

Please don't:

  • break the law using the site;
  • try to break into, overload or disrupt the site, or get around a limit, such as Ask the Scout's daily allowance;
  • copy the site's content or data by automated means (scraping), except as search engines do to list it;
  • use Ask the Scout to produce anything unlawful, or to try to make it ignore its rules.

Links and other sites

The site links to other sites: our social profiles, the sources we cite, YouTube and our shop. We aren't responsible for them. The shop at shop.thegridscout.com is run by Fourthwall, whose terms apply to every order.

The site itself

We try to keep the site running and accurate, but it is provided as it is and as available. We may change, pause or stop any part of it, such as a feature or the live race pages.

Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, for business losses (the site is for personal use), or for losses from relying on race data, predictions, opinions or AI answers on it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law doesn't allow it, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add a feature. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to account holders, we'll tell them by email before it takes effect.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.

Questions about these terms: hello@thegridscout.com. Our privacy policy and cookies page explain how we handle your data.
